The research method used was a mixed methods approach with a descriptive-qualitative approach and a simple experiment on Arabic Language Education students at three Islamic universities in Indonesia. Data were collected through observation, questionnaires, interviews, and analysis of student journal documents. The results indicate that journal-based learning can improve critical reading and academic writing skills in Arabic, as well as strengthen understanding of scientific text structure. Implementation of this learning strategy also fosters learning motivation and collaboration among students through discussions based on current literature. Selain itu, artikel ini juga menelaah keterkaitan keduanya dalam konteks pembelajaran bahasa Arab. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kepustakaan (<em>library research</em>), dengan sumber data berupa buku, artikel jurnal, dan publikasi ilmiah yang relevan dengan topik kajian. Data dianalisis menggunakan teknik analisis isi (<em>content analysis</em>) melalui identifikasi konsep utama, perbandingan pandangan para ahli, serta sintesis temuan-temuan teoretis untuk membangun kerangka konseptual yang koheren. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa analisis kontrastif merupakan metode linguistik yang berfungsi mengidentifikasi persamaan dan perbedaan struktur bahasa guna memprediksi serta mengatasi kesulitan belajar bahasa Arab bagi penutur non-natif. Sementara itu, teori linguistik Arab modern menyediakan landasan ilmiah yang deskriptif dan kontekstual dalam memahami bahasa Arab sebagai sistem komunikasi yang hidup. Keterkaitan keduanya tampak pada peran linguistik Arab modern sebagai dasar teoretis bagi penerapan analisis kontrastif dalam pembelajaran bahasa Arab. Nevertheless, it has not yet received adequate pedagogical emphasis, particularly in terms of instructional focus, the depth of training activities, the quality of auditory input, and the diversity of instructional media. Field observations further revealed a noticeable gap between the pedagogical requirements of listening instruction and the instructional design implemented at Al-Hidayah Al-Faraj Higher School, especially with regard to the limited exposure of learners to authentic native Arabic speech. This study employed the Dual Coding Theory proposed by Allan Paivio as a theoretical framework for instructional development. The theory emphasizes the integration of verbal and visual systems in meaning construction and in the enhancement of comprehension and memory. The research adopted a Research and Development (R&amp;D) methodology using the Four-D model, integrating both qualitative and quantitative approaches. Data were collected through documentation, pre-tests, and post-tests, and were subsequently analyzed both qualitatively and quantitatively using descriptive statistics and the Miles and Huberman analytical model. The findings indicate that the development of listening instruction was conducted systematically based on an analysis of learners’ actual needs. The listening unit was redesigned to be more contextual and learner-centered by integrating authentic audio recordings of native speakers with contextualized visual elements, thereby reflecting an effective application of Dual Coding Theory. In addition, the provision of QR-code–based digital access was found to enhance interactivity and accessibility. However, although learners’ responses to the developed materials did not demonstrate a statistically significant quantitative improvement in post-test scores compared with pre-test results, feedback from both teachers and students was positive in terms of motivation, acceptance, and ease of use. Rendahnya penguasaan <em>mufrodat</em> siswa menunjukkan perlunya strategi pembelajaran yang sesuai dengan karakteristik perkembangan peserta didik usia sekolah dasar. Metode <em>drill</em> merupakan salah satu metode yang relevan untuk tujuan tersebut, namun dalam praktiknya sering dipersepsikan secara sempit sebagai latihan mekanis tanpa landasan konseptual yang jelas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menelaah secara sistematis konsep metode <em>drill</em> dalam pembelajaran <em>mufrodat</em> bahasa Arab di SD/MI serta merumuskan tawaran konseptual yang aplikatif dan pedagogis. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis studi pustaka, dengan sumber data berupa buku dan artikel jurnal ilmiah yang memiliki otoritas akademik. Analisis data dilakukan melalui analisis isi untuk mengidentifikasi tema-tema konseptual utama. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa metode <em>drill</em> efektif dalam penguatan <em>mufrodat</em> apabila diterapkan secara terstruktur, konsisten, bermakna, dan kontekstual, serta disesuaikan dengan karakteristik <em>mufrodat</em> dan tahap perkembangan siswa SD/MI. Penelitian ini menawarkan kerangka konseptual penerapan metode <em>drill</em> yang meliputi tahap pengenalan <em>mufrodat</em>, pembiasaan melalui latihan berulang yang bermakna, dan penguatan kontekstual melalui penggunaan kosakata dalam komunikasi sederhana. This study also aims to analyse the efforts of teachers to improve their ability to teach Arabic language materials in Islamic Secondary Schools (Madrasa) in South Tangerang City. The researchers used descriptive qualitative methods by collecting information directly in the field. The research location is 6 Madrasas out of 18 Madrasas in South Tangerang Region. Which consists of two public madrasas and four private madrasas. The researchers examined teachers who had succeeded in obtaining a teaching profession certificate from the Government, and teachers who had not yet received certification. Researchers observed the teaching process and interviewed the teachers under study. Among the results of this study, is that the pedagogic abilities of Arabic teachers still need to be improved and developed. And a competency development process should be carried out in terms of educational competencies that are directly related to the learning process, by attending trainings and exercises both inside and outside Madrasas. However, the guidance and development process has not been carried out by the Directors of Madrasas, meanwhile, it is very necessary for Madrasas to pay more attention to the development of Arabic language teacher competencies.</em></p> M. One of the main challenges is the weakening of students’ moral and spiritual values. This article aims to conceptually and through a literature review examine the integration of Islamic character values in Arabic language learning. This study employs a qualitative approach using the library research method on books, journal articles, and relevant scientific publications from the last five years. The findings indicate that Arabic has strategic potential as a medium for character education due to its position as the language of the Qur’an and Hadith. Value integration can be carried out through the selection of value-laden teaching materials, reflective–communicative learning methods, teachers’ role modeling, and holistic evaluation. However, challenges remain, including the dominance of technical–linguistic approaches, limited teaching materials, low pedagogical competence in value education, and weak character evaluation systems. Therefore, a reorientation of learning objectives, strengthening teacher capacity, and developing affective assessment systems are needed so that Arabic language learning can function optimally as a medium for Islamic character formation.</p> Hairus Sodik, Moh.
