Pendidikan Agama Islam Sebagai Fondasi Kemajuan Peradaban Modern

Abstract

The development of modern civilization is marked by rapid advances in science, digital technology and social change. However, this progress is often accompanied by moral degradation, spiritual crisis, and value disorientation. This research aims to examine the role of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) as the main foundation for the formation of modern civilization with a religious, ethical and innovative character. The research method used is library research with a descriptive qualitative approach, using primary data sources in the form of the Koran, hadith, and classical Islamic literature, and secondary sources in the form of books, articles and the latest scientific journals. The research results show that PAI not only functions to transfer religious knowledge, but also builds moral integrity, strengthens work ethics, and encourages innovation based on spiritual values. The integration of Islamic values ​​with 21st century competencies (critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, communication, character and citizenship) makes PAI relevant in responding to global challenges. The conclusion of this research confirms that PAI is an important foundation in giving birth to a generation of Muslims who are superior, have character, and are able to integrate Islamic scientific traditions with the dynamics of modernity.
