STRATEGI PENGEMBANGAN MADRASAH BERBASIS PESANTREN DALAM MENINGKATKAN PRESTASI SISWA DI MADRASAH TSANAWIYAH IHYAUL ULUM GUNTUNG SANGGKAPURA GRESIK

Abstract

The implementation of pesantren-based formal madrasahs in archipelago regions often faces challenges in managing students' intensive study schedules, as well as limitations in supporting infrastructure for science and digital technology. This study aims to analyze in depth the development strategy of pesantren-based madrasah at MTs Ihyaul Ulum Guntung Sangkapura Gresik, map the curriculum integration patterns, and outline the supporting and inhibiting factors. This field research employs a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through observation, documentation, and in-depth interviews with the headmaster, pesantren caretakers, teachers, and 9th-grade students. The results indicate that the development strategy is realized through an Integrated Dual-System mechanism that aligns the Ministry of Religious Affairs curriculum with the salafiyah tradition through the dual roles of educators (murabbi) and the instrument of the Buku Kendali Santri (Student Control Book). The primary supporting factors include the social capital of the Bawean community's strong religious tradition and solid internal communication within the foundation. Meanwhile, the inhibiting factors consist of physiological constraints from students' physical fatigue and a limited quantity of laboratory computers. These obstacles are tactically mitigated through daily schedule flexibility, the elimination of homework, and nighttime peer tutoring methods to transition toward the long-term vision of becoming a digitally-oriented salaf madrasah.
